Talking German Phrasebook
Description
Coolgorilla's Talking German Phrasebook is packed with over 500 phrases professionally translated and recorded by one of Germany's top female voice-over artists. It is the easy way to learn some basic German phrases and will help you get the most out your visit to the land of soccer, sausage and sauerkraut.
With over 40 separate categories under 11 main menu options, the phrasebook is extremely easy to navigate and also includes a search option which makes finding your required phrase a doddle.
Included within the app are a range of German specific phrases so you can ask to visit a German beer hall, order yourself a Wheat beer and watch some traditional German dancing. Or, if you're feeling like a little more culture, endure the delights of a German opera!
We've been making talking phrasebooks since 2005 and so we'd like to think we know a little bit about them! One thing that separate’s our phrasebooks from other translation apps for the iPhone is that all the audio recordings and phrases are included within the package you download from the App Store. This means our Talking German Phrasebook does not need an internet connection to work which might not seem like a big deal but here's why that's important;
If you're travelling abroad (which if you're using a phrasebook you probably are), the chances are that if you are using your iPhone's 3G or Edge connection, you will be subject to roaming data charges which can as much as $10 per MB!
Many of the translation products available on the App Store query internet databases and may well end up costing you more money than the app did in the first place. What's more, translators that use mechanic methods (such as Google Translate) are highly inaccurate and you'd probably get just as far making silly hand gestures, shouting loudly in English or taking a guess at how something should be said in German whilst putting on your best comical German accent.
