Lost
Description
Whilst I am not really a Lost fan my first impressions of this game was WOW! This is because the game play is unique compared to other iPod games available from iTunes and takes the form of a RPG.
You play the character of Jack in the genuine storyline taken from the TV series so I guess if you are a Lost fan you should really know what to do. Tend to the passengers from the plane crash, run from the black smoke, meet the others and open the hatch.
The graphics are really pretty good and the most impressive aspect of the game although that is unfortunately where it ends.
For a RPG the game is pretty small and not particularly dynamic. Ok, so they are supposed to be on an island so you wouldn't expect the virtual world to be a sprawling metropolis but someone decided it would be a good idea to seriously limit the choices you can make during the game.
For example, you are continuously guided round the world by an arrow! This doesn't really give you the impression that you are 'Lost'. If that wasn't enough when if comes to key stages in the game you are almost always purely directed what to do. The taste of adventure just isn't here which is a real shame since the storyline should really have created a great game with universal appeal.
I think die-hard Lost fans will purchase this regardless although that just really goes to re-inforce the opinion that this game is really just cashing in on a popular TV show.
On a more positive note it is good to see that someone has had a go at an RPG for the iPod. Hopefully the next developers to create some RPG iPod games will have more than a quick buck in mind.
Once you have completed this don't expect any feeling of achievement and you probably won't want to play it again.
